Foothills Tops San Manuel 42-12 in Season Opener

The San Tan Foothills football team defeated visiting San Manuel in the season opener for both teams on Friday night, 42-12.

Sophomore quarterback Zach Herrera (3) had two touchdown passes to senior receiver Brandon Williams (2), who also added a rushing touchdown and came up with an interception on defense in the game.

“Our team really showed out,” Herrera told CountyLinePreps.com in a text messasge. “We all played great.”

Sophomore running back (7) Amahri Bailey (7) also contributed to the victory with three rushing touchdowns to help the Sabercats cruise to a 1-0 start.

“The (running) backs did great running the ball, the receivers caught the ball, and the offensive line really stepped up tonight,” the sophomore signal-caller said. “It was a great team win. On to the next one.”

Next game:  San Tan Foothills hosts Many Farms on Friday, Aug. 25.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
